Two Backgrounds, One Injury Practice

What Kaith Sheikhly brings to every injury claim

A Financial Analyst’s Training

Insurers value injury claims with formulas. Before law school, Kaith Sheikhly worked as an investment banking analyst, building financial models. He applies that training to document the full lifetime cost of an injury (future care, lost wages and lost earning capacity) so your demand reflects the full value of your claim.

A Judicial Clerk’s Experience

Kaith served as a Judicial Law Clerk at Multnomah County Circuit Court, where he worked alongside more than thirty judges and saw how cases are argued and decided. We prepare every injury case as if it will go to trial, from day one.

Common Questions

How long do I have to file a personal injury claim in Oregon?

Oregon's general statute of limitations for personal injury is two years from the date of the injury (ORS 12.110). Wrongful death claims generally must be filed within three years (ORS 30.020). Claims against a public body trigger a 180-day tort claim notice deadline, or one year for a death claim (ORS 30.275). Missing these windows almost always extinguishes the claim, so call as soon as you can.

What does it cost to hire a personal injury lawyer?

We work on a contingency-fee basis: there is no upfront cost, and we only get paid if we recover compensation for you. The fee is a percentage of the recovery, agreed in writing before we start. If there's no recovery, you owe nothing — including case costs. Consultations are free.

How does Oregon's comparative fault rule affect my recovery?

Oregon follows a modified comparative-fault rule (ORS 31.600). You can still recover damages as long as you are 50% or less at fault, but your award is reduced by your percentage of fault. If you are 51% or more at fault, you recover nothing. Insurance carriers know this and will push hard to inflate your share.

What is PIP coverage and how does it work after an Oregon car accident?

Oregon law (ORS 742.520) requires every auto policy to include Personal Injury Protection: a minimum of $15,000 in medical benefits plus wage-loss and essential-services benefits. PIP pays regardless of fault and is your first line of coverage for accident-related medical bills. It does not replace a third-party claim against the at-fault driver.

Should I talk to the other driver's insurance adjuster?

No. Anything you say can and will be used to reduce your claim. The adjuster's job is to close your file for as little as possible. Refer them to your attorney and let counsel handle all communication.
